The Sony α7CR brings class-leading sensor technology from the α7R V into a smaller, more compact form factor. The latest BIONZ XR image processing engine improves image quality for both stills and videos, and boosts menu responsiveness.

The AI processing unit supports recognition of human subjects using learned human form and pose data, and also recognition of non-human subjects such as animals, insects, and vehicles. This improves the performance of Real-time Recognition AF and Real-time Tracking, and makes Fast Hybrid AF subject acquisition and tracking more precise and reliable over a wider area.

The BIONZ XR engine and updated algorithms allow for fast Hybrid AF performance, while the 693 Phase Detection AF points cover approximately 79% of the image area, accurately acquiring focus even on small subjects. Continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking is possible at up to 8fps with the mechanical shutter, and 7fps during Silent shooting.

The α7CR offers highly detailed 4K movie capture with 6.2K oversampling, and is compact enough for gimbal or drone-mounted shooting. S-Cinetone is also available for more cinematic looks. Real-Time Tracking with advanced subject recognition, Active Mode image stabilization and focus breathing compensation all work in tandem to produce refined videos
