The α7 IV's new 33.0 megapixel Exmor R™ CMOS image sensor provides high-speed readout, high sensitivity, low noise, and highly accurate colour reproduction. Shoot up to 10fps stills from ISO 100-51200, thanks to flagship-level image processing with the BIONZ XR processor that greatly enhances image quality, continuous shooting responsiveness, and data transfer speeds.

Record up to 4K 60p videos with the new image sensor, with wider dynamic range compared to previous sensors, along with 10-bit 4:2:2 color-sampling. This allows greater flexibility in color grading, and more freedom in editing and post-processing. The α7 IV also supports S-Cinetone, Creative Looks, and S-Log3 for more cinematic color and smoother production workflows. Focus Breathing Compensation, a newly-introduced technology in the α7 IV, helps minimize field-of-view shifts when you rack focus with Sony E-mount lenses.

The α7 IV’s latest 5-axis optical image stabilization makes use of a high-precision stabilization unit and gyro sensors along with image-stabilization algorithms to achieve up to 5.5 steps of shutter-speed compensation. Active Mode Stabilization also gives the user more control over 4K video shooting without compromising on the size of the camera.

Sony’s new and improved menu structure as seen on the α1 and α7S III has also been implemented in the α7 IV, allowing better visibility and customization with faster processing times. Intuitive touch operations on the 3.0-inch monitor make focusing using Touch Tracking a breeze, while a dedicated Still/Movie/S&Q dial make transitioning between modes effortless.
