Sharp, refined rendering in a unique constant F2 standard zoom

Optics featuring large elements manufactured using advanced techniques, including three XA (extreme aspherical) elements, ensure high corner-to-corner resolution at F2 throughout the zoom range. One ED (extra-low dispersion) and three Super ED elements reduce chromatic aberration, Nano AR Coating II cuts flare/ghosting, floating focus boosts close-focus resolution, and gorgeous G Master bokeh enhances dimensionality.

Designed for refined, expressive movie production

Focus breathing is effectively reduced for smooth movie imagery with minimal angle-of-view instability. Rack focus and zoom effects can be used with F2 depth of field to create natural transitions that guide the viewer’s eye. Critical focus for high frame rate 4K 120p/FHD 240p4 recording is easy. The XD linear motors and a new aperture unit are quiet in operation, and α body breathing compensation5 is supported.
